Belching Beaver Brewery Here Comes Mango IPA – American IPA at 6.60% ABV | 55 IBU

Belching Beaver Brewery Here Comes Mango IPA American IPA at 6.60% ABV | 55 IBU (C$10.05 at Willow Park Wine & Spirits, 650 ml, packaged on 8-Aug-2017, acquired 23-Sep-2017, reviewed 23-Sep-2017)

Appearance: clear straw with two fat fingers of dense white head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: tropical fruit (mango & pineapple), wheat, citrus. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate-high bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweetish lingering bitter finish. (3/5)

I liked this a bit more at the outset than I did at the finish. The aroma starts strong with lots of mango, sweet pineapple, and wheaty malt. But, as the pint progresses, that sweetness begins to build and linger on the tongue. I wouldn’t call it cloying, exactly, but it’s definitely sweeter than I prefer, and begins to overwhelm the hops. By the end, I wouldn’t be ordering a second one. (But bonus points for the _Blazing Saddles_ reference in the name.) (15/20)
