Citizen Brewing Company Hijacked IPA – American IPA at 7% ABV | 65 IBU

Citizen Brewing Company Hijacked IPA American IPA at 7% ABV | 65 IBU (C$3.29 at Willow Park Wine & Spirits, 473 ml, packaged on 22-Nov-2017, acquired 13-Dec-2017, reviewed 22-Dec-2017)

Appearance: clear pale amber with one fat finger of rocky white head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: citrus, tropical fruit, caramel. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, dry lingering bitter finish. (4/5)

I’m trying to think of a way to say this is unremarkable without making that sound derogatory, because that’s not my intent. What this is, is a dead-on interpretation of the A/IPA style that is well done, with no negatives (except for a slightly mild aroma). I’d have no hesitation in having another. But, I wouldn’t make any special effort to find it again, because there are literally hundreds of A/IPAs out there who occupy this exact space. (On the up side, it’s better than their NW/APA and *far* better than their S/IPA.) (15/20)
