BrewDog Libertine Black Ale Black IPA at 7.2% ABV (C$3.50 at Willow Park Wine & Spirits, 330 ml, best before 5-May-2016)
Appearance: clear deep brown with one fat finger of fluffy tan head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: pine, citrus, floral, roasty malt, bitter cocoa. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet and moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth but lingering and building bitter finish. (4/5)
Very nice example of the style. Leads out with pine and citrusy hops that are strong but not overwhelming. Malting is quite smooth, with character but no astringency from the roasted malt. Dangerously easy-drinking for a 7%-er. (16/20)
