Appearance: clear brown with one finger of creamy beige head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: mild, roasted malts, cocoa & coffee, red berries & dark fruit, ash. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, light tart. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry medium duration slightly smoky finish. (4/5)
Not really all that schwarz, is it? More braun, if you ask me. Colour complaints aside, this is quite pleasant, mild and approachable, yet with some pleasant complexity and depth of flavour. Could be a good one for someone unfamiliar with the style. (15/20)
