Collective Arts Brewing Ginger & Lime Berliner – Berliner Weisse at 4.4% ABV | 7 IBU

Collective Arts Brewing Ginger & Lime Berliner Berliner Weisse at 4.4% ABV | 7 IBU (C$3.99 at Oak & Vine, 473 ml, packaged on 9-Jun-2018, acquired 19-Jul-2018, reviewed 23-Jul-2018)

Appearance: hazy pale straw with one fat finger of fluffy white head, good retention and no lacing. (4/5) Aroma: ginger, lime, faint pale malt, hint of brine. (7/10) Taste: high tart, moderate sweet, low bitter. (7/10) Palate: light body, moderate carbonation, crisp tart slightly salty finish. (4/5)

Pretty hard to detect anything other than the massive ginger and lime, either in the aroma or on the tongue. Starts off intensely tart, and either as a result of acclimatization or simply cauterizing your taste buds, becomes somewhat less puckering as the pint progresses. I started off thinking this was no more than a six, but actually it grew on me in a major way, especially since it ends up being so refreshing and palate-clearing. It’s still a bit of a one-trick pony, but it’s pretty decent overall. (15/20)
