Appearance: clear medium amber with one fat finger of rocky ivory head, good retention and moderate soapy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: bready caramel, toasted bread, apple, grass, light buttery diacetyl. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry mild bitter slightly creamy finish. (4/5)
Yeah, I know, a bit late in the season for the style – especially when you consider I’m taking a sort of snow day! Sort of forgot I had this one, actually. Not bad overall, though I could do without the hint of buttery diacetyl. It’s not really out of place for the style, and it dissipates almost completely as the pint progresses, but it’s still a bit of an off note for me, especially on the front end. Overall, a solid if somewhat nondescript traditional Lager. (14/20)
