Boréale (Les Brasseurs du Nord) ISA Des Chutes – Session IPA at 3.7% ABV (C$5.40 at Collective, 473 ml, best before 8-Feb-2021, acquired 26-Nov-2020, reviewed 6-Dec-2020)
Appearance: clear deep gold with two fat fingers of rocky white head, excellent retention and spotty lacing. (4/5) Aroma: caramel, grass, stewed fruit. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate-lively carbonation, off-dry moderate bitter lightly astringent finish. (3/5)
Typical too-light ISA that comes across as astringent instead of refreshing. Despite the light malt bill, the aroma is malt dominated and there’s no clear bright hop character. Definitely a “don’t bother”. (12/20)
