Dageraad Brewing Grouch – Belgian Pale Ale at 5% ABV (C$5.25 at Collective, 473 ml, packaged on 30-Sep-2022, acquired 1-Dec-2022, reviewed 15-Dec-2022)
Appearance: clear pale amber with one fat finger of rocky pale ivory head, good retention and moderate spotty lacing. (4/5) Aroma: apple, caramel, stone fruit, pepper, Belgian esters, light farmhouse funk. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry medium duration finish. (4/5)
The label says this is brewed with Belgian yeast and English crystal malt, and hopped with Amarillo, Cascade, and Czech Saaz. Call me a grouch, but I’m just not feeling this one: it’s like an old-fashioned English Bitter, with a hint of Belgian character. Nothing to really criticize, especially if you’re a fan of the old boring styles, but I’m not really, so… (15/20)
This will be my 5,448th unique Untappd check-in.
