Appearance: clear deep gold with one fat finger of rocky ivory head, good retention and moderate soapy lacing. (5/5) Aroma: bubblegum, banana, coriander, white pepper. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet tending slightly high, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body, moderate-lively carbonation, sweetish medium bitter warming finish. (4/5)
I’ve had worse Belgians, in Belgium. (And better, but that’s neither here nor there.) I might be just a bit enthusiastic in my scoring here simply because it’s been so long since I’ve had a good Belgian, but in all honesty this isn’t bad at all. (15/20)
