Latitude 33º Brewing Blood Orange IPA – American IPA at 7.2% ABV | 61 IBU

Latitude 33º Brewing Blood Orange IPA American IPA at 7.2% ABV | 61 IBU (C$10.49 at Oak & Vine, 650 ml, no packaging date or best before, acquired 3-Jul-2017, reviewed 8-Jul-2017)

Appearance: clear pale amber with two fat fingers (and growing) of loose fluffy pale ivory head, excellent retention and moderate soapy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: orange flesh and zest, caramel, pine, floral. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (4/5)

Slurping off the head that wanted to spill over the edge of the glass tasted like a Creamsicle, so things certainly started on a positive note. This is pretty much what I was hoping for from, well, every other blood orange IPA I’ve tried. What, you thought this was my first? Oh, no. But it’s certainly the best: not only is it the only one that, frankly, wasn’t a disappointment, it’s actually a solid performer in its own right. This is, however, my first exposure to this brewery, and I have to say, well done indeed. (16/20)
