(8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter, moderate-high spice. (8/10) Palate: medium slightly oily body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter and spicy finish. (4/5)
Holy hell, that’s a lot of mango! Not that I’m complaining, y’unnerstand, it’s just a bit much to process. And then, outta nowhere, comes this lingering and building pepper heat. Initially I thought it was just an artefact of the hops and the mango, but it just kept on coming, so I looked a little more closely at the bottle. Ah. Habaneros. Yeah, that’d explain it. And you know what? It totally works – and I can’t say that about *any* of the pepper beers I’ve had before. The fruit tones and sweetness of the mango totally set the stage properly for a pretty respectable pepper burn on the finish: basically, this is mango salsa that gets you pie-eyed – what’s not to like?
