Unibroue La Terrible – Belgian Strong Dark Ale at 10.5% ABV | 15 IBU

Unibroue La Terrible Belgian Strong Dark Ale at 10.5% ABV | 15 IBU (C$2.58 at Willow Park Wine & Spirits, 341 ml, packaged on 30-Sep-2016, acquired 15-Feb-2017, reviewed 28-Sep-2017)

Appearance: murky brown with two fingers of dense creamy beige head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: mild, dark roasty malts, chocolate, dried dark fruits, vanilla, nuts. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate-low bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, off-dry mildly warming finish. (4/5)

Another really solid Belgian from Unibroue. Despite the complexity of the flavours, this is approachable and easy-drinking. Probably the most impressive part of this one, though, is the very mild character for such a high ABV, which manifests only as a mild warming. (16/20)

My 246th from the 2010 Edition of 1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die, 235th from the 2013 edition, and 259th combining both editions.
