Great Lakes Brewery Karma Citra IPA – American IPA at 6.6% ABV | 65 IBU

Great Lakes Brewery Karma Citra IPA American IPA at 6.6% ABV | 65 IBU (C$3.25 Gift – thanks, Rod H!, 473 ml, packaged on 27-Oct-2017, acquired 3-Dec-2017, reviewed 6-Dec-2017)

Appearance: near opaque pale gold with one fat finger of rocky white head, good retention and soapy moderate lacing. (5/5) Aroma: grapefruit rind & flesh, resiny pine, pale malt, tropical fruit. (9/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry moderate bitter finish. (4/5)

Awww hells yes – this is my kind of brew. They don’t specifically say it’s a single-hop, but I assume it is, from the name and the label notes. Complete juicy hop domination, with malt well in the background, and no hint whatsoever of any onion or cattiness from the Citra. (And hey, there’s that magic 10:1 ratio between IBU and ABV again!) If you have access to an LCBO, I highly recommend this. (17/20)
