AleSmith Brewing Company / Beachwood Brewing Tower of Flower – American IPA at 6.8% ABV | 40 IBU (C$5.17 at Collective, 473 ml, no packaging date or best before, acquired 2-Dec-2021, reviewed 19-Dec-2021)

Appearance: slightly hazy pale gold with two fingers of rocky white head, excellent retention and moderate soapy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: tropical fruit, pine, caramel, grass. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky medium duration lightly warming finish. (3/5)

Double dry-hopped with Galaxy, Cashmere, and Nelson. I guess this qualifies as the West Coast style that the label claims, but it tends a bit too sweet and not as dankly resinous as I like to see for that style. It also tends a little sweet for my preference, with a maltiness that might be acceptable in a DIPA, but isn’t really necessary for the relatively restrained ABV here. Calling it mediocre might be a little unfair, but only a little. (14/20)

This will be my 5,163rd unique Untappd check-in.
