New Level Brewing Cookies & Corpse Paint – American Double / Imperial IPA at 7% ABV | 50 IBU

New Level Brewing Cookies & Corpse Paint – American Double / Imperial IPA at 7% ABV | 50 IBU (C$5.62 at Collective, 473 ml, no packaging date or best before, acquired 1-Dec-2022, reviewed 24-Dec-2022)

Appearance: nearly opaque black with one finger of fine beige head, good retention and moderate droopy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: chocolate, mint, grass. (8/10) Taste: high sweet, moderate-high bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter warming slightly astringent finish. (4/5)

Totally smells like girl guide thin mints, and they appear in the original ingredients list, but not in the label covering that list. I guess somebody’s legal counsel completely lost their shit? Also, the cookie in the artwork appears to be chocolate chip or similar, and definitely not a thin mint. Regardless, it’s heavily dominated by artificial chocolate mint flavour, and when the emphatic sweetness fades a lingering astringency remains. Slightly unbalanced and not a complete win, but not terrible either. (15/20)

This will be my 5,453rd unique Untappd check-in.
